In today's free pick I'm going to be focusing in on the NBA's PHO Suns vs CHI Bulls matchup.
Both of these teams have had a less than spectacular season, and real struggles recently.
Phoenix has now lost 4 road games in a row, and while Chicago gave a great effort in their overtime loss last game, they are on a 5 game slide.
The Bulls' defense has struggled all year. They are 29th in scoring defense, allowing 120.6 points per game, and allowed an average 126.4 in their last 5 games. I think they really sent a message to the league just before the trade deadline. That message? Ok, we give up.
They looked good defensively last game against the Knicks and really showed some effort towards getting that elusive win. Only to receive a crushing loss in overtime. I think morale is in the tank after that, and you wont see that type of effort out of this team for quite some time.
The Suns have been struggling as well, but they still have more talent on the court than a lot of teams in the league. I think this is the perfect bounce back spot for this team. Durant and Booker are the heartbeat of this offense, and I don't see anyone on the Bulls being able to consistently stop them from scoring in this game. Look for the Suns to get up on the scoreboard early, and the Bulls to fall back into the 'here we go again" lack luster defensive effort.
I know it seems like a tough ask to lay points with the the Suns. But they've been losing to good teams. I think they will realize quickly in this game that they are all around better than the opposing team and get this offense going to win the game by 7 to 9 points..... and make it look kind of easy. That's why I'm going to lay the 5 points with the Phoenix Suns on the road.
